From the frozen halls of Asgard to the roots of Yggdrasil, the Norse gods braved giants, wolves and the end of the world itself. This volume brings Odin, Thor, Loki and friends to life as cuddly little Vikings-in-training.
Every little god below comes from real Norse mythology. Each story ends with a link to the book so you can meet them all.
Thor is the thunder god who never goes anywhere without his hammer, Mjölnir — a weapon so heavy that only he is strong enough to lift it, and it always finds its way back to his hand after he throws it.
Odin, the wisest of the Norse gods, gave up one of his own eyes just for a single sip from the Well of Wisdom. Two ravens named Huginn and Muninn fly across the world every day just to bring him the news.
Loki is the ultimate trickster god, able to shapeshift into anything from a fly to a horse. He's caused some of the Norse gods' biggest problems — and solved just as many with a clever (if sneaky) plan.
Freya is the goddess of love, beauty and war, and she rides in a chariot pulled by two enormous cats. She's also entitled to half of all the warriors who die bravely in battle.
Heimdall guards the rainbow bridge Bifröst that connects Asgard to the rest of the worlds, and legend says he can hear grass growing and see for a hundred miles in every direction.
Sif, Thor's wife, is famous for her hair of pure gold — so shiny it was said to have been spun by dwarves themselves after Loki once played a very mischievous prank on her real hair.
